November 26, 2009
En route to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan yesterday,
the tour bus suffered a blown rear tire.
Fortunately, help arrived quickly. The entire wheel was
removed and taken away to be repaired.
The bus was able to run to the venue, minus one wheel
and later went to have it reinstalled.
Photos of the scene will be posted soon on the pictures
page.
The show went ahead without a hitch, to a full house of
beaming faces.
People were definitely in the Christmas spirit.
Driving back to the hotel after the show, a herd of deer
ran in front of the tour bus.
The driver managed to avoid them, but not without a screech
of brakes, throwing one of the crew members violently
across the room.
A REALLY scary experience on a bus.
Happily, crew member Kyle Miller was shaken but
not hurt.
These are the trials and tribulations of life on the road!

Due to a long delay at the Canadian border (no one said
it was closed from midnight to 7:30am!), the bus arrived
way behind schedule into Yorkton, Saskatchewan
yesterday.
Crew and band doubled their efforts to pull everything
together in record time, and the show went on to a great
reception.
One down 22 to go!

Today was off to an early start:
The band had a scheduled appearance on CTV's Canada
AM show.
This is a nationally broadcast daily television show,
much like Good Morning America.
Despite playing a show in St.Catharines, Ontario
the night before and having a 6:00am studio call, Michelle
and the band pulled together a great performance.
They played 'I know Santa's been here'
live to air.
It's a really fun song with a Western Swing feel which
was written by Canadian artist Patricia Conroy.
Next they video taped 'Rudolf the red nosed reindeer'
for broadcast at a later date.
Later that evening, Michelle and the band performed
at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga, Ontario.
That made for one long day!

Lee
is about to leave on tour with Michelle Wright
once again.
The 'I'm Dreaming Of A Wright Christmas' tour runs
from Dec 03 - 19 inclusive and criss crosses Ontario,
Canada.
There will be 16 concerts and likely some promotional
appearances on network television.
In addition to Lee and guitar player
Shaun Bayles, the band features 2 new
members:
Matt Crouse on drums and Clint Parris
on keyboards and vocals.
They're both great musicians and really cool guys to work
and hang out with.
Recent rehearsals have revealed great chemistry and renewed
energy between Michelle and the revamped band.
This should make for a fun time!
Here's a picture of the bus and trailer for this tour,
from Star Coach in Atlanta, Georgia. (The
driver's name is Bones!).
On another note, there are rumours of European
tour dates in 2009 ... stay tuned for details.

Replacement
gear ...
In the quest to
replace his beloved "Sparky", Lee
sought help from the great folks at Gibson/Epiphone.
Now he has a wonderful new guitar to debut on the 2008
Michelle Wright Christmas Tour.
Knowing that it would be hard to truly replace Sparky,
he chose an Antique White SG Custom style guitar.
Pictures to follow.
Lee also got a new amplifier: an Epiphone Valve Junior.
These are a 'must have' for the recording studio.
Note to the guitar and audio nerds: it's 5 watts of pure
Class A power in a beautiful boutique style package!
Thanks for all the help Codey!

Stolen equipment
...
On the night of
August 17 or early on August 18, Lee had much of
his stage gear stolen from a vehicle in Barrie, Ontario.
Summer rolls into fall ...
Michelle finshed the Summer season
with a run of shows that included venues in Ontario
and Nova Scotia.
Old friend and ex bandmate Michael Freeman was enlisted
to play bass in Sydney, Nova Scotia, as Joe
was unavailable.
A big thank you and shout out to Michael.
He did a fantastic job -- it was as though he'd never left!

A good time was had by
all

Feb 02/2008 Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
with Michelle Wright.
A change of
the guard ...
On a sad note, two close friends
recently left
the Michelle Wright band: Dan Nadasdi has
decided to leave the road behind in favour of
raising sons Taggart and Hudson, along
with wife Rhonda.
Drummer Rick Marks left the band to pursue
other opportunities - most likely in the sun!
Both of these guys will be greatly missed.

A beautiful new guitar for Lee
Long time friend, musician and luthier, John
Loomer is crafting one of his fine acoustic guitars
for Lee.
It's an OM style and promises to be a treasured instrument.
On a recent trip to Toronto, Lee had an opportunity to
play a couple of John's guitars and was thoroughly impressed
by the sound, feel and finish.
John takes great care to build an instrument that he can
be proud of, knowing that it will bring years of pleasure
in the hands of those fortunate enough to own one.
